Like the one at Errekalde, this one was also laid out in the 19th century. Today it is split down the middle by a road, and you can no longer appreciate the expanse (two hectares) it used to cover.
This tower-house dating back into the distant past was replaced by a modern palace that would later be burnt down during riots in 1718.
This building, which was originally a renowned college belonging to the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, became the Royal Seminary of Bergara in the last quarter of the 18th century.
“Palacio Urrutia-Espilla” is the original name of this building that was built by the married couple formed by Ignacio Urrutia and Ana Espilla around the middle of the 17th century on the site of an older dwelling.
